Best Spotlight: Mike Wright

After nine wonderful years at Best Enterprises, our dear friend and beloved employee, Mike Wright will be retiring. Through the years Mike has served many different positions in the company, including holding the title of the office handyman. We recognize Mike for his unconditional dedication in his role as a fulfillment and delivery specialist where he helped to fill orders, load orders, and align the best routes for delivery.

When I interviewed Mike for this article, it was clear to see how genuine he was about his commitment to his role and his team here at BEST. “I’m the type of guy who shows up for work and does my job, and I always try to do my best. We’re a family here, and we all have the same idea of what is “right”. We are all like-minded, honest, respectful, trustworthy people. It’s hard to explain the friendships that I have gained here, it’s really in the small things. It’s a different environment than most places you work.”

When Tom Best (Founder and President) was asked what he thought about working with Mike, he said, “With Mike, his consistency is stellar. His personality and his mannerisms are wonderful to work with and he really just fits in with our culture. We had a lot of fun working together and always had playful banter when we helped each other in the warehouse. Every time I am contacted by a customer, they make comments about how Mike is over the top amazing. Mike is a terrific person all around, and it has been a privilege and an honor to have him as a part of the team for 9 years, we feel blessed.”

Our Business Development Director, Adam Dunnom was quoted saying, “In many ways, Mike’s position is the face of the company, because it’s the touch point of each job. In this role you get to know our customers, and Mike has absolutely exceeded at this. It’s going to be extremely hard to see him go.”

I asked Mike what advice he would give to someone who was just starting their career, and he said, “Work hard. If you don’t like your job, find something else because if you don’t like your job, you won’t work hard at it. I’ve had days where I have laughed harder than ever. Find a job that brings you more smiles than frowns!”

On behalf of everyone at BEST, we would like to wish Mike the best of luck on the next leg of his journey – he will be greatly missed. We hope retirement brings you all your favorite things such as hanging out with your grandchildren, traveling, and attending all of your favorite concerts!
